Just back in Ireland after 10 weeks at St. Lawrence Home of Hope, Zambia. Every time I visit Zambia I’m uplifted, frustrated, astonished; there are so many wonderful things about the country, yet so much that is desperately unjust. As a volunteer you have to lose the idea that you’re going to change the world, and hope that in some small way you may help the boy in front of you. So, having spent the year to date attempting to teach the wonderful boys at St. Lawrence Home of Hope, I can certainly say that I’ve learned a few things and can but hope that they did too 🙂
Thanks to the generosity of friends, supporters and colleagues here in Ireland, I raised over €2500 on behalf of St. Lawrence (receipt pictured). The money has been used to buy clothes for the boys and towards the substantial running costs of a centre that feeds, clothes and cares for up to 60 boys at a time, 365 days a year. A massive thank you to all who contributed, please know that your donation is greatly appreciated.
